Avengers (Vol. I) #67

We Stand At,,, Armageddon

Avengers (Vol. I) #67As the Vision is victim to a conscience crisis, Ultron-6 attacks Avengers Mansion. And he does all this while laughing maniacally, as noted by passerbys. The sly robot had a back-up plan to be reconstructed in case of emergency. Of course, Hank Pym remains his main target. Well, all of humanity, to be precise. Why not start with a big city?

Even with my reservations about the art, at least this issue MOVES. The main pleasure is to witness the Vision's self-realization into the big scheme of things and his ultimate reaction. Oh, how much complex the Pym-Ultron relationship will become, creating many fascinating stories in the future.

As a villain who re-invents himself physically over time, Ultron remains always unpredictable, even if the incarnation looks a bit silly in his flying bathtub... It was a nice touch to have Thor and Iron Man stick around for more than a single guest issue, with the Black Panther's temporary absence. The inking here is a bit more tight, which results in a more pleasing visual flow.
