Avengers (Vol. I) #62
The Monarch and the Man-Ape
After
facing near impossible odds last issue, the team is left litterally in
the cold. With the Black Knight tagging along, the Avengers go to Wakanda,
the Black Panther's country of origin, for some rest. But there has been
some trouble brewing, as the Man-Ape has in his sights the trone of the
most advanced land in the world, technologically speaking.
Once again we visit Wakanda and marvel at the many contradictions within. What looks like a science-fiction movie set is populated by people wearing animal skins. It's great to learn more about T'challa's home and its going-ons, and it makes for a great battle with the Man-Ape, an adversary that benefits from an excellent visual look.
The Black Panther would begin to entertain doubts about his real role
in life: what career to pursue? Super-heroing or kingdom-watching? This
issue contain awesome rendering of physical battle, in a very believable
plotline.
