Avengers (Vol. I) #56
Death Be Not Proud
Captain
America wants to know if is former partner Bucky is really dead. He asks
the team's help in going back in time using Doctor Doom's time machine
to learn what happened on a fateful day during WWII. Is it a good idea
to relive past events and maybe be hurt again by difficult challenges?
Captain America was still not getting over Bucky's death, which at some times was a uncomfortable read for fans, just like Quicksilver's over-protection of the Scarlet Witch. But this story was determined the close the subject, if possible. Did it succeed? Are you joking?
At least, the Black Panther goes back to his full-faced mask, which gives
him a more impressive appearance. The Wasp, well... acts like a typical
girl of these times, staying behind (and getting drowsy!) This is not
a bad tale, as it clarifies some things about Cap's past, but wouldn't
it have been more logical to publish it in the Star-Spangled hero's own
mag? At least, it makes a good introduction to Annual #2,
coming next.
