Avengers (Vol. I) #41
Let Sleeping Dragons Lie!
More
on the Black Widow: she finally reaches behind the Iron Curtain to meet her
supposed masters. They have conceived a strange device called a Psychotron,
which instills fear into the enemy. The Widow immediately becomes a test subject.
Back in Hank Pym's lab, Goliath and Bill Foster get a new acquisition, Dragon
Man.
The creature is soon revived by the evil Diablo and much conflict ensues.
Let us welcome the legendary John Buscema, as this is the first of many issues to come where he'll provide artwork. Kirby-Buscema-Pérez are my triumvirate of the best artist that worked on the title.
Here, tempers flare as Hercules becomes arrogantly bored in his exile. We
can see that Roy Thomas is coming into his own style, being much at ease in
handling the characters interrelations. Dragon Man has, for some reason,
always been a personal favorite; here, he has an excellent battle against
Goliath.
A fun, fast-paced issue.
